According to a new interview with director Tim Miller, the Ryan Reynolds-starring Deadpool movie project is very much still going on. In fact, Miller revealed that a new script has been delivered by screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, G.I. Joe Retaliation). The only thing keeping the film from being made now is the studio (Fox) not greenlighting the project for production.
"Deadpool is still alive and we're just waiting for the studio to embrace what an amazingly fucking awesome film this would be" the excited director said. "Ryan is ready, I am ready, the fans are more than ready, we just need that elusive green light."
Here is a video of Miller explaining the current Deadpool situation as well as the new script news:
So all we have to do is wait for the film's announcement or cancelation at this point. Which way do you think this story will go?
Last week, star Ryan Reynolds was asked once again about this project. The actor, who seems pretty excited about it, admitted that it might take some time to make it, but it is certainly something he wants to do!
"Actually, in the last couple of weeks it's taken a few very, very small tiptoes forward," the actor said.
Clearly this isn't anything to get too excited about, but the above news about the new script and waiting for Fox to give Miller the green light does add a level of hope to the project.
