The video game Kane & Lynch has circulated as a potential movie adaptation for years, and it has gained new life again according to a new report.
The Hollywood Reporter posted an article on Monday stating that Nu Image and Millennium Films have resuscitated the project with Gerard Butler in talks to portray Kane, along with F. Gary Gray to direct. If it comes to pass, the Kane & Lynch movie would reunite Butler and Gray, who worked together on the 2009 action hit Law Abiding Citizen.
Furthermore, Millennium has made an offer to Vin Diesel to play Lynch, but the talks are preliminary and there is no indication yet if he would take the part.
The video game tells the story of Kane, an inmate on death row, and Lynch, a kuller with schizophrenia, who are broken out of jail in order to recover a stolen fortune. Kane heads to Los Angeles, Japan and Cuba while Lynch acts as a protector in order to save the lives of his wife and daughter.
A movie adaptation of the game has been in discussion since 2007. Lionsgate wanted Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx to costar with Simon Crane as a director. Gray was attached to one version of the movie several years ago and is now reportedly back to helm the film again.
Skip Woods and Kyle Ward are writing the script with Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter as producers.
