The album "Juanes MTV Unplugged" by Colombian rock star Juanes debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Albums Chart.

The album also topped charts in more than 18 countries in Latin America including, Mexico, Colombia and Central America.

The album was released on May 29. It was certified gold album in the U.S., Mexico, Spain and Venezuela and 12 times Platinum album in Colombia yesterday.

Juanes' album was recorded at New World Center and produced by MTV Tr3s and Juan Luis Guerra.

The work features collaborations with veteran Spanish singer Joaquin Sabina and Guerra.

Juanes has earned good reviews for the album.

"Instead you see him up close and quiet, pouring himself into the songs. Without having to capture a giant arena, he can focus on the music in a whole different way - and we can see and hear him without the rock star gleam," wrote music critic Jordan Levin for the Miami Herald.
