2001's cult comedy Super Troopers introduced most of the world to comic production troupe Broken Lizard. The guys behind the film are ready to get back to the highway patrol with a sequel that has apparently been in the works for quite some time. In fact, this film could start shooting as early as late 2013!

First of all, we should take a trip down memory lane. Check out the theatrical trailer for the 2001 comedy Super Troopers right here:

Already reliving some memories? Are some memorable quotes coming back to you and will you be using them for months to come like you did back when you first saw the movie? Great!

This is not the first time the Broken Lizard team have teased this sequel, but this time around it seems legitimate. While appearing on "The Bald Faced Truth," Broken Lizard member Kevin Heffernan revealed that Super Troopers 2 was currently in the works.

"There is, there is going to be a sequel. It's actually happening right now," he explained. "We just sealed the deal with Fox, who owns the rights. The script is written, and later in the year we'll do the shooting."

So there you have it! Are you excited to see how your favorite characters have progressed in over 12 years?

Heffernana also shared a great story of a Super Troopers reaction from a mother of a fan.

"Once there was a line of kids waiting to take pictures and there was an old lady in line," he said. "When she got up to me she slapped me across the face and said, 'you're the reason my son dropped out of college.'"

Get ready for more of that if you release this sequel, Kevin!
