Singer Sheryl Crow has announced that she has a benign brain tumor, 6 years after battling breast cancer. The singer-songwriter recently told an audience about her tumor at a concert. According to her representative Christine Wolff, the tumor is said to be very common and there is nothing to be too alarmed about. The tumor is reportedly a meningioma, which develops from the protective linings of the brain and spinal cord.
Crow had surgery to treat her breast cancer in 2006, followed by radiation therapy. A year later, she adopted a two-week-old boy named Wyatt Steven Crow. She adopted another boy Levi James Crow in 2010.
Crow's music, which has a bit of rock, folk, hip hop, country, and pop, has won a total of nine Grammy Awards. She has previously performed with The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and Eric Clapton. She sold over 16 million albums nationwide and 35 million worldwide. Her latest album, 100 Miles from Memphis, was released in 2010.
The singer was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Missouri and Southeast Missouri State University.
She has performed backing vocals for Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Don Henley and Bob Dylan.
