George Clooney seems to be in more feuds than we'd like to think these days. But one could be coming to an end, with activist investor Daniel Loeb reaching out the Hollywood actor for a meeting. Earlier this year, Loeb had some negative comments about Sony Entertainment, to which Clooney dismissed the activist's opinion and stated that we should all take his statements with a "grain of salt." Loeb apparently wants to put this bad blood in the past and has publicly invited Clooney to sit down and talk.
During the New York Times' annual Dealbook Conference this week, moderator Andrew Ross Sorkin read Clooney's response to Loeb's comments about Sony Entertainment.
After hearing what the actor had said, Loeb responded: "That sounds a little hyperbolic."
"Look, I get where George is coming from ... actually I'd love to meet him sometime," Loeb said. "We'd actually agree more than we'd disagree about the company. ... I think we both want the same thing. We want less money spent on overhead and more money spent on making money."
Loeb also took some time to talk about what he actually meant when criticizing Sony earlier this year.
"I don't think of us as going against Sony," the Third Point founder explained. "I would think of our model as much more like a private equity investor. ... We have a role. It's expressed as a shareholder, not as a director. So far, we've had a very good relationship with Sony."
