Judd Apatow mainly focuses his efforts on producing movies rather than directing these days, but that doesn't mean he's completely strayed away from the director's chair. In fact, a new report from Deadline is saying that the filmmaker will follow up this year's Anchorman: The Legend Continues with a film from a well-established comedy duo, Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele. The twosome already have a sketch comedy series on Comedy Central entitled Key and Peele, but now Apatow is ready to bring them to the big screen!
"I love these guys because they are riotously, make you sick because you can't stop laughing, funny," Apatow explained. "I think Key and Peele are capable of making the movie that America desperately needs right now."
Deadline reports:
Universal Pictures has made a deal with Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele and Judd Apatow to write an untitled feature comedy vehicle for the two stars of the Comedy Central show Key & Peele. Apatow will produce for his Apatow Productions, and Key and Peele will be exec producers. Deal comes just after Key & Peele was picked up for a fourth season by Comedy Central.
So we don't know what the movie will be about, but we should definitely expect plenty of laughs.
But how do you think Key and Peele's sketch comedy dynamic will translate to the big screen? Perhaps we'll see a film based on some of their characters? Let us know what you think about the new partnership between Apatow and the comedy duo in the comments section below!
