Trinidad James sent social media haywire this morning as he continued to tweet about his rant at a New York performance.
While performing in New York, the rapper took the opportunity to share a few choice words about the music coming out of hip-hop's birthplace. During his rant, James talked about how New York used to run rap but now Atlanta runs New York.
Concert goers were shocked and once the word hit social media, hip-hop fans bombarded Twitter with "ATL vs. NY" tweets. Some agreed with the "All Gold Everything" rapper while others thought his remarks were a publicity stunt.
In a video captured at the show, James can be heard saying:
"You can't tell me, or anybody here that's a real f---ing hip-hop fan, that Kendrick Lamar was supposed to go platinum just this year. He's been that f---ing good! But now, the n---- that we been knew [was good] is coming and saying shit like he the king of New York. What is that? I remember when New York ran this sh-t, dog. When Dipset was f---ing turned the f--- up! We were in Atlanta like, "Oh my God, I have to wear my bandana on tilt like Juelz." What the f--- happened, dog? Us in the South, us 'bammas, we just did our own thing. But now we run y'all, musically. That's crazy!"
"I'm not trying to start nothing, but if you want to do something we can do something because I don't give a f*ck. I'm just being honest with you. I looked up to New York music. But now every n---- that's really popping out of New York, you might as well say he's from Atlanta. He's from Atlanta. Y'all got n----s that interview that are more popping than n----s that are rapping."
After the show, James took to Twitter and Instagram to clarify his statements. In one tweet he said, "I didn't disrespect. Bt if you wanna think I did. Do what you feel is best. Either way I lose no sleep for being real. NY doesn't support Ny."
