Spielberg godfather to Paltrow and Barrymore, five more celebrities and their famous godfathers

For those of you who have godparents, you may just see them once a year. In the entertainment world, it's not uncommon for celebrities to have godparents who are also famous -- they can collaborate together on projects across film and music, and receive advice on balancing both personal and professional lives. Instead of seeing godparents at a family reunion, for celebrities, it's a run-in at the red carpet. The site DoYouRemember.com has put together a roundup of celebrity godparents and godchildren who are surprisingly connected. It was just so fun we had to share some of it with you this Friday.

The Goddaughters: Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow
The Godfather: Steven Spielberg

After E.T., renowned director Steven Spielberg became godfather to young child actress Drew Barrymore. This year she went to him for advice shielding her own daughter from the paparazzi. Keeping it in the film family, Gwyneth Paltrow's mother is actress Blythe Danner and her father Bruce Paltrow is a well-known producer and director.

The Goddaughter: Nicole Richie
The Godfather: the late Michael Jackson

Nicole Richie's father Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson partnered up on the charity-song-heard-round-the-world, "We are the World" in the 1980s. In 2009, Nicole Richie's husband Joel Madden and Lionel Richie honored Jackson at his memorial service.  

The Godchildren: Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon Jolie-Pitt
The Godfather: Bono

Bono took on the role for both of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's children. The U2 singer is deeply involved in human rights causes, along with Pitt and Jolie. In France, they're neighbors.

The Goddaughter: Khloé Kardashian
The Godfather: Sugar Ray Leonard

Sugar Ray Leonard told HollywoodLife.com he was very happy for Lamar Odom and Khloe when they first got together. Odom and Kardashian later supported him when he participated on Dancing With the Stars.

The Godchildren: Paris and Prince Michael Jackson
The Godfather: Macaulay Culkin

The late Michael Jackson new Macaulay Culkin from the time he was a child. When Culkin was still a teenager, he took on the responsibility of a father-figure with Paris. Becoming a godfather to Prince Michael Jackson followed.

The Godson: Jake Gyllenhaal    
The Godfather: the late Paul Newman   

Apparently Paul Newman was a good godfather, but not a good driving model when he took Gylenhall for a spin around a racetrack. In interviews, he speaks well of the legendary actor.
