'Dumb and Dumber To' will be released November of next year

Many die-hard fans of Dumb and Dumber got a pleasantly unexpected surprise when both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels agreed to take part in the sequel to the cult comedy film with Dumb and Dumber 2. The upcoming movie now has an official release date for Nov. 14, 2014, nearly 20 years after we were graced with the Farrelly brothers original.

Daniels won a Best Actor Emmy Sunday night for his role in The Newsroom. He told E! News reporters backstage that he wouldn't have too much time to celebrate.

"We're going to party 'til dawn and then I'm going to get on a plane and go to Atlanta and start shooting Dumb and Dumber To," Daniels said. "The intellectual free-fall from [Will] MacAvoy to Harry Dunn, imagine if you will."

Sequels are always a bit tricky, especially when they are following what ended up being a classic, but Daniels shared with E! that he thinks the new movie is just as funny as the first one, if not more.

"There are some things that we're going to do in 'Dumb and Dumber To' that make the toilet scene [in the original] seem lame," Daniels said. "Pales in comparison, and I can't divulge what, but just that they've topped it."

The juxtaposition between the actor's role as Will MacAvoy in The Newsroom and Dumb and Dumber To goes to show how talented Daniels is. From a toilet scene to long poignant monologues behind a news desk, he's still going strong.
