Considering Christian Bale was the last actor to portray the DC Comics character Batman in the Dark Knight trilogy with director Christopher Nolan, it comes as no surprise that his recent round of interviews have been focused on the casting of Ben Affleck in the role. Currently making the rounds to promote his film Into the Furnace, Bale was asked about the Affleck casting and he explained that he gave the actor a little advice.
"I wish him all the best. He's a very experienced actor and filmmaker, he'll make it his own," Bale said in a new interview with Access Hollywood
He then explained how he gave the actor some advice on the role: "The only thing I said to him is [to] make sure he could take a piss without anyone having to help him. It's a little humiliating."
All joking aside, Bale seems very confident about the prospect of Affleck taking on the role. Bale explained that it doesn't matter what actor is playing him, Batman is too iconic to be associated with just one person.
The American Hustle star also spoke about how he came up with the voice he gave Batman during his stint as the caped crusader, and explained, "[The voice] ain't for everybody."
He added: "Ben's obviously going to have to do his own thing, but it was the only way that I could find how to get into that and to justify wearing the fricking Batsuit. Otherwise, he's just loopy beyond belief. He's loopy, but he's loopy with a method to his madness."
