Khandi Alexander Says Olivia's Pope Mom Has 'Murderous' Mindset on 'Scandal'

Fans learned at the conclusion of the most recent episode of Scandal that Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) mother, thought to be deceased in a plane crash, is alive and held captive by Rowan and B613. And her portrayer, Khandi Alexander, has revealed that Mama Pope is NOT happy.

Alexander told TVLine that Maya is in a "murderous" state of mind and that "she's very, very angry." Years of imprisonment and deceit will do that to you. She also said that fans will learn more about the character's past, potentially through flashbacks, and revealed that the show will unveil "more pieces to the Remington puzzle." What we know so far is that Maya, for reasons not yet known, was taken off Flight 522 before it took off and before Navy Officer and future President Fitzgerald Grant shot it out of the sky.

Alexander also said that "we're going to learn more about Olivia's relationship with her mother, and what's happened in the past" but did not reveal when or if Olivia and Maya would reunite. Finally, the actress revealed that "there are even more surprises to come, without a doubt" about Remington.

In other Scandal news, TVLine posted a preview clip of tonight's episode in which Fitz and Mellie are watching their interview from last week's episode. But instead of the harmony we saw last week, Fitz freezes out his wife and tells her not to wait up. He then goes to call Olivia. Check it out here.
