Sosie Bacon has been named Miss Golden Globe for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards Ceremony on January 12th. The 21-year-old is the daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. Sosie Bacon started acting when she was 13 in Loverboy, a film directed by her father. Her father was reluctant for her to pursue acting after this. However, The Closer producer James Duff reeled her in for the fifth season of the show.
The Hollywood Foreign Press (THFP) decides who will receive this honor, which involves helping give out the awards on the special night. Traditionally it is the child of a celebrity -- in Sosie's case it's two. THFP President Theo Kingma announced the news with formed Miss Golden Globe, Francesca Eastwood, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "This year's honoree is also a talented actress in her own right whom I am sure we will hear and see a lot of in the future," Kingma said.
Sosie graciously accepted with: "I can only hope to continue the legacy and tradition of Miss Golden Globe by following in the footsteps of my predecessors."
Past Mr. and Miss Golden Globes who have gone on to pursue a longer career in acting include Freddie Prinze Jr. (Freddie Prinze's son), Linda Evans (parents were professional dancers), Laura Dern (Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern's daughter), Melanie Griffith (Tippi Hendren's daughter) and funny enough, Melanie Griffith's daughter Dakota Johnson (father is Don Johnson). Dakota Johnson will play Anastasia Steele in the 50 Shades of Grey film.
Sosie continued her studies at a musical theatre company and at Brown University. On the 12th she will join Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on stage, the hosts for the night.
