Eminem continues to precariously toe the line between throwback and dated with his latest music video teaser. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 rapper dropped a teaser clip for his latest music video "Rap God" in which he channels Max Headroom while lip-syncing the track's opening samples.
Many Em fans may not be old enough to remember the terrifying incarnation of all things '80s, so I've included a refresher below:
"Rap God" will be the third video off of Eminem's latest after "Survival" and "Berzerk." The video was shot in Detroit by director Rich Lee, who also did the video for Em's "Not Afraid."
The track itself has caught some serious heat for seemingly anti-gay attitudes in the lyrics. The backlash caused out MMLP2 collaborator Sia to donate her paycheck to a Los Angeles LGBT charity.
In addition, the song seems to show a flagging Em, who is more content to rest on his technical skills than to come up with anything interesting to say.
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 currently holds the number two spot on the Billboard 200 behind Lady Gaga's ARTPOP. Overall, the album has sold more than a million copies in the U.S. and is receiving favorable reviews from critics.
