One of the biggest draws of the three seasons of American Horror Story has been the presence of Jessica Lange, who has delivered magnificent and powerful performances week after week on the show (and as three different characters, no less). But AHS fans received some sad news this week as we found out that next season of the show will be Lange's last.
The actress told EW.com why she has decided to exit the show after Season 4:
"It ends up being a lot of time during the year being committed to something. I haven't done that for a long time. It's like doing a stage play between the rehearsal and the run. This is a six-month commitment every year. That will be four years in a row. I want to have more time to myself, I guess. Once it's over and I have a full year ahead of me with nothing to do, who knows? It might not have been the best decision. But I think four years doing something is a sufficient amount of time."
Unfortunately, fans will have to get used to the show without the powerhouse actress, but series co-creator Ryan Murphy is already planning ahead and is setting up Lange's exit from the show. He told EW.com that Season 4 of American Horror Story would be set either in New Orleans (the current season, Coven, takes place there) or in Santa Fe. He also revealed that Lange would not play the lead role again but she would "have this great, juicy part."
What do you think, fans? Can you imagine American Horror Story without Lange? Let us know in the comments below.
