The Gangster Squad actor Josh Brolin, 45, is officially entering a rehab center to address his substance abuse, according to Us Weekly. Earlier this month, Brolin got in a drunken fight with someone at O'Brien's Irish Pub in Santa Monica, Calif. He is currently going through a divorce from actress Diane Lane.
The bar fight was caught on tape and later addressed on TMZ. Brolin told them that he will not continue drinking, and when asked if he regretted the incident, he said "Absolutely. It won't be happening again."
Brolin has been honest about his difficulties with substance abuse, and back in Feb. 2013 he shared about his experiences with Men's Journal. He discussed that at a young age, growing up in Montecito, Calif., he was a member of a surf gang called the Cito Rats. That's when he began doing drugs.
"I was the last [gang member] to get into heroin -- I smoked it and the first to get out. I was around 16 or 17, so it was around the time of The Goonies," Brolin said. "But I liked working and learning, so it was very difficult for me to lend myself to that drug completely."
When the actor was just 19 he was arrested for getting in a fight and getting physical with law enforcement. In 2004 he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery after Lane called the police. Those charges were later dropped. Then, in 2008 he was arrested at the Stray Cat Bar in Shreveport, La. And yet again last New Year's Day for public intoxication in Santa Monica, Calif.
Brolin will appear in the film Labor Day, which comes out on Dec. 27.
