One need look no further than the varied and interesting line-ups of Lou Reed tribute concerts to see how broad an impact the man had on music. The latest, a charity event called "Last Great American Whale: A Concert in Memory of Lou Reed" will feature members of TV on the Radio, the Patti Smith Band and the Vaccines.
Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe will represent TVOTR at the November 24 show. They will be joined by Arto Lindsay, Shahzad Ismaily, Lenny Kaye, Justin Hayward-Young and Ivan Julian. In addition to all these perfomances, soulsters Hollis Brown will perform the classic Velvet Underground album Loaded in its entirety.
Tickets for the Bowery Electric show are on sale now and proceeds will benefit LGBT charity, the Ali Forney Center.
Tributes to Reed have not been uncommon in the month since his passing. The family and friends of Reed held a touching tribute to the late icon at NYC's Lincoln Center. The open to the public event allowed people to pay their respects as the songs of the man himself played over the PA.
