Award shows have been completely over the top these days, especially if Miley Cyrus is anywhere in the building. We're sure that this year's American Music Awards will be no different.
Katy Perry is slated to open the live ABC broadcast tonight (Sunday, Nov. 24) night from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles with her latest single "Unconditionally."
Although Perry says she enjoys award shows of all kind, she really likes the AMAs in particular.
"I appreciate all the other awards shows for what they are," Perry said. "Some are just kind of shock jock shows. Some are just like, 'Hey, let's see how many celebrities we can get together.' Some are actually legitimate like the Grammys, and the AMAs is a very legitimate show with musicality to it."
While Perry is opening the show, America's favorite twerker Miley Cyrus will be waiting to seal the deal.
In between Perry and Cyrus' performances are a slew of other acts including Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Pitbull, who is also hosting, will perform with Ke$ha. Jennifer Lopez will hit the stage for a tribute to Celia Cruz.
With this year coming to a close, many are wondering what tonight's performances will be like, anxious to see what these artists have been keeping up their sleeves. But what more can we expect from Miley? She's already smoked a joint on stage and twerked on married Robin Thicke. Can it get any crazier?
Check out the American Music Awards tonight at 8 p.m. EST.
