Looks like Malin Akerman isn't going to be a trophy wife anymore. After six years of marriage, the Trophy Wife actress, 35, has split with husband Roberto Zincone, confimed with Us Weekly. The couple recently had a baby boy, Sebastian, who is now 7 months old.
The Swedish-Canadian star and Zincone (a drummer for the band the Pedalstones) want what's best for their son, according to an insider. "It's as amicable as can be, and they want to do what's best for their son." The pair began dating almost 10 years ago, and neither party is in a rush to file divorce papers, the second insider says. "No one has plans to file yet. Honestly, Malin is not even ready to discuss it. It's a very sad time for her."
Akerman seemed to be cheerful about her husband back in September. "We've never had one single fight," Ackerman (who once sang for Zincone's band) boasted. "We always talk things out."
The couple gave birth to their son, Sebastian's back in April, a friend of the two said, "They are both so excited and are going to be incredible parents," adding that the pair were prepping a nursery in their L.A. home. "There's a lot of love in that house."
Akerman stars as Kate, a woman newly married to a twice-divorced older man with three children on ABC's comedy Trophy Wife. The actress stars alongside Bradley Whitford, Marcia Gay Harden and Michaela Watkins.
According to christianpost.com, Akerman told viewers that the show is not what they are expecting based on the title.
"From an outsider's point of view, people go, 'Oh, younger, cute woman with an older man, of course she's a trophy wife,'" the actress explained to the Associated Press. "But we learn that Kate is really this lovely woman who is in it for the right reasons. Loves the kids, loves her husband, but just isn't really good at it yet."
She went on to explain her busy schedule, this may be a factor for trouble within her marriage.
"To be honest with you, I'd been doing film for a while, which I love, but I got to a certain point where there was one year where I was home maybe three months out of the whole year and I was like, 'You know what? I would love to just be home, be with my husband, be with my friends and just kind of have more of a regular schedule," said the actress.
