It's no secret that Kurt Cobain and godmother of riot grrl Kathleen Hanna were close friends (after all, Hanna is the one who wrote "Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit" on the wall of his apartment- an act that lead to a sea change in '90s mainstream music). Still, it is interesting to hear Hanna detail her relationship with the late Nirvana frontman in the new Kathleen-centered documentary The Punk Singer.

Apparently, Hanna and Cobain became close friends after Hanna's ex-boyfriend began stalking her. Why, that's the second most interesting I've learned about the Bikini Kill singer this week. According to Hanna, Cobain was the only one of her friends who believed her when she said she was being harrassed. Check out the clip below:

The Punk Singer will be available on demand starting November 29, with a nationwide theatrical roll-out planned shortly thereafter.
