Allegiance in sports is a very serious thing, as Oasis' Liam Gallagher proved when former Manchester United captain Gary Neville sent him a guitar to sign.
In the upcoming documentary, The Class Of '92, Neville reveals that he sent off the instrument with hopes of getting an autograph from the Oasis frontman. Gallagher sent it back with "MCFC" (Manchester City Football Club) scrawled on it.
"I was a big Oasis fan, started learning the guitar for a few years and just sent it him one day. I got it back with that [written on it]! Shouldn't have been surprised, really!" Neville told Digital Spy.
The soccer captain was a good sport about it, too. He hung the guitar in his apartment.
"I had it up on my wall at one point, in an apartment in Manchester," he said. "But then I took it down - I've not got anything on my walls now in terms of memorabilia."
Many of you may be thinking that Gallagher was out of line, but anyone who has ever supported a team wholeheartedly knows exactly where he's coming from. I can tell you that as a life-long fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, I would burn an autograph received from Peyton Manning in effigy. So, good on you, Liam.
