Nikki Finke has been the Hollywood blogger who somehow know what's going on before anyone else. She's the woman behind the media scenes with the mysterious insight on celebs while seemingly flying under the radar. Now she has left her spot blogging for Deadline.com after a messy feud with her boss since 2009, Jay Penske. Funny or Die thought this was a good opportunity to jump in and stir things up.

Finke will have her own site starting in January, not surprisingly. There is something quite mysterious about the blogger/Hollywood insider, and the comedy website took a shot at recreating what it must be like to be Finke.

Funny or Die have released a 2 1/2-minute trailer that imagines Finke, played by Jean Smart, at the center of an espionage-type thriller. Smart plays a woman, a mother who must hide her true occupation as a notorious blogger. They nailed it.

Entertainment Weekly explained, the trailer's creators, writer/director Jody Lambert (People Like Us) and writer/actor Matt Oberg (Ugly Americans), used the Naomi Watts-starrer Fair Game as inspiration for the fake trailer.

"We felt like Nikki should be the hero of an exciting espionage Internet journalism thriller," Lambert told EW. "The kind where everyone is a bad guy and you don't know where to turn."

Lambert and Oberg have Finke and Deadline to thank because the site figured into their own successful careers.

"Both times I was cast in network pilots, I found out from Deadline before my agents were able to call," Oberg said, laughing. "And I found out both times they were not being picked up - also from Deadline."
