David Lee Roth of Van Halen just made a pretty exciting announcement for the band's fans. New music is on the way! But you're gonna have to hold out for just a little while longer.
In an interview with SiriusXM's Jim Florentine, Roth revealed that a new album is about 18 months away.
Roth says he and Edward Van Halen have started the process of putting music together.
"We start way, way, way in advance, 'cause we are eminently art-centric, which is a really fancy way of saying we really do generate all the artwork, the graphics, etc," Roth said. Same thing with the merchandise: If you buy a t-shirt, that was designed, literally, in my living room."
Roth went on to say that he and the band, including Wolfgang and Alex Van Halen, get together about three times a week to practice new material.
Back in April, Roth initially announced that the band was working on new music. He cautioned fans that the project would not be ready for 2013. He even went as far as to say that it may take as long as three years.
In a previous interview with FasterLouder, Roth explained that the process of making a new album will take time saying, "We plan ahead by about two-and-a-half years in advance."
The band's upcoming release is slated to be a follow up to their 2012 album A Different Kind of Truth.
What do you think of new music from Van Halen? Are you excited to hear what they come up with?
