Mob Wives: New Blood premieres this Thursday on VH1, Mstars reporter, Star Connor took some time out to talk to the executive producer of the show, Jennifer Graziano, in an exclusive interview.
Check out the juicy details what fans can expect this season.
Star: So Jenn, you are the producer of the hit reality series, Mob Wives, what gave you the idea to produce this type of show?
Jenn: I was always writing different scripts and stories, throughout the years, and I've been inclined to the entertainment industry for years. I was creating a script about growing up, and my background, and what type of lifestyle I had in my teens, then I saw how reality TV was exploding, and the Real Housewives as well, so I wanted to take a piece out of their book and create my own franchise. I realized I had a unique lifestyle and wanted to take the perspective of being a housewife and the perspective of being a mob wife. I realized then, I had the cast right under my nose.
Star: Tell us about each of the ladies on the show. You have two new young ladies, Alicia Garofalo and Natalie Guercio, which are the new bloods, what role will they play?
Jenn: Alicia has a very interesting story, she is actually married to an old friend of ours, if you go back 30 years, I use to be friends with her husbands sister. She's married to Edward Garofalo, she was not aware of the level of activities that her husband was involved in, she went into business with him, and is now facing possible jail time.
Natalie is young, feisty and fun, she is a mortician for the Carto family Funeral home business. She's very young and sexy, and brings fire to the group. The returning cast members are, Renee Graziano, who is my sister, Drita, and Big Ang.
Star: Big Ang, also stars in Miami Monkey, and your production team, JustJenn Productions, is apart of that show as well, tell us what viewers can expect from that show.
Jenn: Ang has been in the bar business since she was 19 years old, she has owned family bars, and owns the Drunken Monkey, on Staten Island, which is very popular. We wanted to expand her franchise, and as she was opening a bar in Miami, we kind of followed the reality show process. The bar features her daughter, and her daughters friends, running the shop with Big Ang.
Star: So why are the new girls a good mix of drama for the past cast mates ?
Jenn: New York and Philly are only an hour away from each other, and the men in the Mob usually hang out together, as well as the females. With Alicia's trials and tribulations, Renee wanted to lend a helping hand, and that's just how the show was merged together. I think it's a new fresh take on what it is to be a mob wife, and the cities are very close in proximity and in culture.
Star: What can the viewers expect this season?
Jenn: Well of course the drama, that is not uncommon with Mob Wives, who you see as friends may not end up that way, a lot of heartfelt stories and a lot of support. You will see how the wives understand each others issues, and values, and how they will support each other from the different outside world.
Star: On another subject, your book launches Feb. 2014 entitled, How To Use A Meat Cleaver, tell your readers what that is about.
Jenn: That is our family cookbook, my sister Lana, is a restaurant tourist, she has owned several restaurants over the years, as well as my father, and of course our grandmother, so restaurants are in our blood, and cooking is something that brings us together. We just wanted to share our family recipes, and our grandmother with the rest of the world.
As you can see there is a lot to anticipate this season with Mob Wives, Jennifer is also currently in the production works, of some other shows, but cannot discuss those just yet. But Jenn makes note that you will definitely be seeing more of JustJenn Productions in 2014. So make sure you turn on VH1 tomorrow, Thursday night, for the new season of Mob Wives: New Blood at 10/9c p.m.
