It seems like just yesterday we were talking about Rob Thomas' Kickstarter-funded Veronica Mars movie netting $1M in four hours. The resulting film (which will be called Veronica Mars) already has a release date and it's relatively soon.
Veronica Mars will hit theaters on March 14, 2014, according to EW. This is exactly a year and a day after the Kickstarter project to bring the culty detective show to the big screen was launched. Fans clamored and it appears for now that Rob Thomas has delivered.
In addition, the fan response to the project has convinced Warner Brothers to give the movie a nationwide release, as opposed to the limited select theater rollout that they had planned.
"We are a low budget movie with big set pieces and 60 speaking roles," Thomas said of the project. "A murder mystery in a house would have been more cost effective. But I think we have managed to pull it off."
The plot has Veronica returning to her hometown, where her former love interest Logan has been charged with the murder of his current girlfriend.
Check out a preview of the movie over at EW.
