LeBron James has decided to take his talents to the big screen. Kudos to Kevin Hart. The Miami Heat star is slated to begin shooting the movie Ballers next summer once the 2013-14 NBA season comes to a close.
But this isn't the first time James is supposed to make his acting debut. Back in 2009, it was revealed that James would star in a film called Fantasy Basketball Camp. The film was a Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment comedy.
Malcolm Lee (The Best Man Holiday) was picked to direct the movie and Craig Robinson was rumored to star alongside James.
The idea for the film was ultimately scrapped prior to James' "decision" fiasco. Hopefully things will work out this time around.
Hart, who is friends with several NBA players including James, will co-write the script for Ballers with Joey Wells, Chris Spencer and Harry Ratchford. And of course the little funny man will have a role in the film.
It has been reported that Hart will play the underachieving brother of James, who decides to attend the fantasy camp.
James will executive produce the film along with Maverick Carter, Kim Roth and Hart. A director for Ballers will be chosen once the script is completed.
It isn't uncommon for athletes to venture into the world of film. NBA legend Michael Jordan starred in the 1996 sports comedy Space Jam.
What do you think of LeBron James making his acting debut? Will you go see the film once it's released?
