Director Michael Bay recently stated that there would be no "goofiness" in the upcoming fourth installment in the Transformers movie series entitled Transformers: Age of Extinction. Some took this to mean that he was apologizing for the quality of the first three films, but the director dismissed that idea in a recent blog post.
Bay states that he "did not apologize for any Transformers movies" and then elaborated with the following:
"I did not say I shot the last three movies 'less cool' than the new fourth installment. I was talking specifically about camera style and tone, of the first movie compared to how I shot the new installment with a very big scale, cinematic style. I was very specific in saying the first Transformers was shot in a 'generic suburbia' area, not trying to be cool with any cinematic flashes. I wanted it to feel like this could happen in any backyard in the United States."
Bay also revealed in the post that he and the rest of the crew and cast have finished their five-and-a-half month shoot for Age of Extinction. He also let fans know that that the first piece of footage for the film should be out during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2 and a teaser for the movie should come out shortly after that, though he did not specify when.
Transformers: Age of Extinction stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Nicola Peltz, Kelsey Grammer and Titus Welliver. The movie is set for release on June 27, 2014.
