'Tis the season and Drake is definitely in the giving spirit. The actor turned YMCMB rapper recently visited a Philadelphia high school to make a special announcement.
After being so inspired by a recent ABC News story about a good deed done for Philly's struggling Strawberry Mansion High School, Drake decided to step in as well.
Strawberry Mansion was once considered one of the most dangerous high schools in the country with 94 security cameras line the hallways and metal detectors are posted at every door. The school consistently appeared on Pennsylvania's "Persistently Dangerous Schools" list.
But that didn't stop Drake from popping up at the school and making a surprise announcement.
"In the next few months, I'm building a recording studio inside your school," he announced to an unsuspecting young crowd. "This is about you, this is about your principal, this is about your future. I love you, I care about you, and I want to see you succeed."
And Drake's giving didn't end there. The rapper gave each student a free ticket and transportation to his Dec. 18th "Would You Like A Tour" concert at the Wells Fargo Center.
Drake also recently gave to the homeless in Portland while on tour. He reportedly stopped by a homeless shelter at 3am on Wednesday (Dec. 4) in Portland and made a donation.
"Drake was in Portland for his concert. He was out checking out the nightlife," Stacey King of the Union Gospel Mission of Portland told E! News. "While he was out, he saw we had our emergency cold weather shelter open. He came in and talked to our overnight supervisor, asking, 'Hey, what's going on here?'"
We're glad Drake is using his celebrity for a good cause. Kudos to Drizzy!
