Over the weekend, Spike TV's VGX Awards featured some debut footage, trailers and news for upcoming games and a pretty big announcement came from up-and-coming developer Telltale. The company responsible for this popular The Walking Dead video game revealed that it was currently working on a new Borderlands game as well as a Game of Thrones video game.

Kotaku reports on Tales from Borderland, Telltale's take on the popular gaming series:

They're going to call it Tales from the Borderlands, and it's debuting next year. It appears to star some new characters who are not vault hunters. They're "wannabe vault hunters," according to Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford. The game is described as very much a Telltale game, with lots of story to it.

"You get to shoot stuff, but in a different way," Telltale's Kevin Bruner said. "It's gonna play like a telltale game-you're going to be engaging characters and developing relationships, but it's very much in the borderlands world. It's this great hybrid of everything that's great about Borderlands and everything thats great about Telltale."

Maybe the more exciting news to the general public is that Game of Thrones is coming to gaming consoles. Earlier this year, we reported on the rumor of this game coming to fruition so it's great to see it actually being announced.

Bruner said, "You'll be swinging a sword now and then," when introducing the following clip. Check out the announcement trailer right here and let us know what you think in the comments section below:
