In November, it was announced that NBC would be teaming up with Halfire-CORE to produce a new comedy series with Second City TV veteran Andrea Martin. The Canadian comedy is called Working the Engels. The project, which marks the first time a U.S. and Canadian brocaster have collaborated, will not only include the work from Martin, it will now include guest appearances from fellow veterans Martin Short and Eugene Levy.

The 12-episode series was written by Katie and Jane Ford and is about a family that must try to figure out how to keep afloat after their breadwinning father passes away. The Engels then have to try to run the father's law firm, even though daughter Jenna is the only one qualified to practice law. Sounds like the comedy to could have a dark edge to it, but when you think about the inclusion of Short and Levy, you kind of know it is likely going to have a silly aspect.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains: "The Halfire-CORE comedy will see Short play Chuck Pastry, the head of Big Pastry, a huge corporation, while Levy will perform the role of Arthur Horowitz, a family-oriented, well-connected and much-loved lawyer who is also a neighbor of the Engels."

It's pretty hard to go wrong when your guest stars are Short and Levy, but there's more. Scott Thompson from The Kids In The Hall and Sarah Levy will also guest star on the comedy, while Jason Priestley Beverly Hills, 90210 (kind of an unexpected addition) will direct four of the episodes. Besides main character Martin, Working the Engels will also star Kacey Rohl, Azura Skye and Benjamin Arthur. The series is currently filming in Toronto.
