There's a new No. 1 song in town. After nearly three months of nothing but Lorde's "Royals" and Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop," two record breakers have taken the top spot in the U.S. Yes, Eminem and Rihanna's latest collaboration "The Monster" from MMLP2 has topped the Billboard Hot 100 this week.
According to Billboard, "The Monster" scared away Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" from the top spot and has now notched historical numbers for both Eminem and Rihanna.
The track is the duo's second chart-topper together -- "Love The Way You Lie" ruled the airwaves in 2010 and topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks. "The Monster" gives Rihanna her 13th No. 1 single on the Hot 100, making her tied with Michael Jackson for the third-most of all time (falling short of Mariah Carey, 18, and the Beatles, 20). Meanwhile, this is Eminem's fifth No. 1 single, which is nothing else to scoff at. He's now No. 1 amongst rappers, tied with Diddy and Ludacris.
The monstrous single is a huge accomplishment for Rihanna, who tweeted out her excitement following the Hot 100 announcement today (Dec. 11).
Ohhhhhh BOMBA!!!! #Jah RULE every ting!!!! We are #1 in this muthaPHUCKA!!!! @Eminem congrats to you and all the fans!!

Of course, there are other songs on the Hot 100 this week, and the chart is looking markedly different than it did in November and October. Pitbull and Ke$ha's party-friendly track "Timber" climbed two spots to No. 2. The track topped the Digital Songs chart with 193,000 downloads sold and rose to No. 8 on Radio Songs, giving the Miami rapper yet another huge success.
OneRepublic's sleeper hit "Counting Stars" rose another two spots to No. 3 on the Hot 100 with vastly increased radio play and streams.
Yes, for the first time in months, there are no pop divas in the top three on the Billboard Hot 100. The days of Lorde, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are a distant memory by now.
Though, not too distant. "Royals" still comes in at No. 4 this week, followed by Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" at No. 5.
Other songs on the Hot 100 include Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" at No. 6, Imagine Dragons' "Demons" at 7 and A Great Big World's "Say Something" (feat. Christina Aguilera) at No. 8.
There are no new songs on the top 10 this week, however there are two re-entries. Passenger's "Let Her Go" has now peaked at No. 9 and Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" rounds things out as it climbed from No. 11 to No. 10.
