Though he's considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time, Lee Ranaldo is often overshadowed by the Thurston Moore/Kim Gordon dynamic at the forefront of his mega-influential band, Sonic Youth. With his latest venture Lee Ranaldo & The Dust (alongside SY drummer Steve Shelly), he's looking to change that.

Ranaldo revently released the project's first album Last Night On Earth to glowing reviews, and he put some of that demented guitar work he made famous on display on Conan last night.

The band played the album's single  "Lecce, Leaving" in front of the late night crowd. The idea that Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth would play on a late night show ON TBS is probably the biggest indicator that we are, in fact, in 2013 that I have ever seen.

Last Night On Earth is out now.
