Neil Gaiman's popular comic book series The Sandman has been the subject of discussion for years in terms of film and television adaptation. In 2013, the talk of this adaptation was at an all-time high and now it looks like the project is getting off the ground with Dark Knight Rises star Joseph Gordon-Levitt. As of now, the actor has confirmed his producer role on the film through Twitter, but he could possibly direct and star in The Sandman, too.
Check out Joseph's confirmation tweets that also tease the possibility of his other roles for the film right here:
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm incredibly honored to be working with David Goyer, Warner Bros, and @neilhimself on SANDMAN. #Prelude

Just to clarify, folks. I've signed on as a producer on Sandman. The rest remains to be seen. Delighted you guys are excited. I am too! — Joseph Gordon-Levitt (@hitRECordJoe) December 17, 2013
Deadline reports:
Gordon-Levitt made his feature directorial debut on the well received Sundance pic Don Jon, but this would be a considerable step up in scope and scale. They will hire a writer shortly. The Sandman series shifts between horror and fantasy, and the central character is Morpheus, the personification of dreams. After being held captive 70 years, Morpheus escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom while trying to adapt to the times. Warner Bros has tried for some time to get a script right, but they may have finally cracked it.
Are you excited about the adaptation of The Sandman and Gordon-Levitt's involvement?
