Rumors of a Bill & Ted 3 are as persistent as can be more than 20 years after the second movie hit theaters. Every once in a while, a report would pop up to indicate that the third movie is imminent, but nothing has really materialized. But now, Keanu Reeves has offered some hope by admitting that he would be open to doing Bill & Ted 3. Whoooooaaaa...
Reeves did an interview with IGN to promote his newest movie, Passenger, a sci-fi/romance blend. But before he discussed the movie, IGN of course asked him about the persistent rumors of Bill & Ted 3. Here's what Reeves had to say:
"You keep hearing these murmurs about a third film. Is that something that could actually happen at some point?
Yeah, the writers Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson wrote script. So there's efforts being made to try and get it made. It's a cool story. They came up with a really good story. It would be surreal to play that character at 50, but as long as it's funny and touches peoples' hearts.
But you would do it though, if it did become logistically realistic?
Yeah, yeah. Alex Winter [Bill] and I have remained friends, and we collaborated a little bit with the writers. They have a worthwhile story."
So this is at least a step in the right direction toward a third Bill & Ted movie, as actors are sometimes reluctant to step back into roles like these many years later. The first movie, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, came out in 1989, and the second, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, came out in 1991.
