When he's not busy infuriating small-town politicians, Justin Bieber occasionally makes music. The teenybopper's latest project Journals is due out on December 23 (pushed back from the 16th) and he dropped a few previews of the album's new material on his Instagram.
"Swap It Out" is an interesting, mature sound from the kid best known for songs like "Baby." The track has all the hallmarks of the laid-back R&B resurgence of 2013 (see Miguel, Sevyn Streeter) and may be the first Biebz track to end up in my rotation. No lie.
"One Life" sounds like a rough cut of something The Weeknd would do before he dropped that colossal turd called Kiss Land on the listening public. T'aint bad.
Finally, we have the track that brings this album back to Earth: an ill-advised rap(?) from the Biebz titled "What's Hatnin." This is the song that will make people say "My dude, you remember you're from Canada, right?"
Journals will be available for a limited time through iTunes and will contain 5 new tracks plus all of Justin's #MusicMondays collaborations.
