Demi Lovato has been one of the mainstays on the American version of The X Factor in Season and Season 3, but a new report indicates that the judge/coach/mentor could be finished with Simon Cowell's singing show even if it comes back for Season 4.
People.com first reported through "a source close to the singer" that Lovato would be leaving the show. "She plans to spend next year completely focused on her music," the source said. "She had a great run and a good time."
The schedule for the show reportedly conflicts with Lovato's plans for 2014. The 21-year-old singer will headline her first arena tour, which begins on Feb. 9 in Vancouver. The tour also features X Factor graduates Cher Lloyd, Fifth Harmony and Little Mix.
Lovato told People.com in November that her priorities are on her music even though she has other projects, including a guest-starring role on Glee.
"I think ultimately my main thing is singing," she said. "Maybe movies once in a while, if the right role comes along." She also said she wanted to take some time off for a bit. "I will take the month of January completely off! I want to vacation! I want to watch crime shows on my DVR on my couch ... I need to do some exercising and I don't really have time to do it. I love horseback riding and never get to do that stuff, but January is my time to do all of that."
Of course, this could all be much ado about nothing because The X Factor may not even come back for Season 4. Simon Cowell said earlier in the week that The X Factor would return in a slightly different form, but no decision has come yet from Fox. Ratings have plummeted in Season 3 and the show set multiple series lows throughout its most recent run.
The Season 3 performance finale of The X Factor airs at 8 p.m. Wednesday and the results finale airs at 8 p.m. Thursday.
