Lindsay Lohan had been banned from driving when she crashed a rented Porsche on the Pacific Coast Highway early June.
The insurance company that covered the production of "Liz and Dick" banned Lohan from driving during filming, TMZ reports.
"Sources tell us ... the honchos producing the movie knew Lindsay was driving in violation of the policy, but it appears no one cared," the site writes.
Law enforcement officials said Lohan lied to police and said she was not the person driving the car when the accident occurred.
However, Lohan's assistant Gavin contradicted her and said the actress was driving, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
The 25-year-old actress crashed with her Porsche into a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway on June 8. She was taken to hospital but was unharmed.
The truck's driver says it was Lohan's fault and alleges that Lohan's people tried to bribe him into not calling the police.
However Lohan says the crash was the driver's fault and denied bribing him.
Lohan was taken off probation in March for a 2007 Driving Under the Influence case and must obey all laws for an additional 2 ½ years as part of informal probation over a necklace theft incident in 2011.
