Beyonce just set the bar even higher for female artists. As if her surprise album didn't change the game in itself, Beyonce is now the first female artist to achieve five No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart.
Aside from her latest release, Queen Bey sat on top of the charts with her previous releases: Dangerously In Love (2003), B'Day (2006), I Am...Sasha Fierce (2008) and 4 (2011). All of her albums have debuted in the top spot.
According to Billboard, other acts that have taken their first five studio sets to No. 1 are rapper DMX and folk group the Kingston Trio.
DMX is the only artists, aside from Beyonce, to debut at No. 1 with his first five studio efforts. Who would've thought?
Bey's self-titled album has been doing numbers since it seemingly fell out of the sky last week. The album reportedly sold 80,000 in three hours.
The album debuted without a full sales week and no marketing/media push leading up to the release.
And if that isn't impressive enough, Beyonce's surprise album became the fastest selling album on iTunes.
Billboard also reports that Beyonce also notches the largest sales week for a woman in 2013, and the year's fourth-biggest sales week overall.
The last larger week for a woman was when Taylor Swift's Red debuted with 1.2 million at No. 1 back in October 2012.
Beyonce also saw the second-largest digital sales week overall , counting all digital retailers. Lady Gaga's Born This Way saw the largest digital sales week.
Congrats Bey!
