The X Factor aired it Season 3 finale on Thursday night and crowned a champion from the group of three finalists. But did Alex & Sierra, Jeff Gutt or Carlito Olivero take home the crown?
Host Mario Lopez revealed about an hour into the broadcast that Carlito Olivero finished in third place. Carlito stayed upbeat, thanked all of his fans and hoped that they would continue with him in the future.
Then, with a few minutes left in the show, Lopez announced that Alex & Sierra were the Season 3 winners. Sierra could barely put a sentence together because she was so overjoyed and frazzled, but they both thanked the fans. Jeff maintained his typical level headed demeanor, congratulated the winners and vowed to make records and go on tour.
Alex & Sierra then tried their best to perform "Say Something" one last time but the tears started to flow and they adorably struggled to get through the first part of the song. The rest of the Top 13 then ran out and gave them a group hug as confetti started to fall.
The Top 13 started off the night with a performance of U2's "One" with everyone dressed in white. Each of the three finalists performed a Christmas song in the first hour, after which the show aired video packages of well wishes from the contestants' hometowns.
The night also featured a performance of "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" by Mary J. Blige, a new song from Glee star Lea Michele, a holiday track called "One More Sleep" from Leona Lewis, "Timber" by Pitbull and "Midnight Memories" by One Direction. Alex & Sierra and Jeff also performed "Love Me Again" together as the final contestants' act of the night.
