WWE taped the Dec. 27, 2013 edition of Friday Night Smackdown on Thursday because of the Christmas holiday. The dark match before the show was Los Matadores vs. Los Locales (Tyson Kidd and Ricardo Rodriguez) and Los Matadores earned the win.

The show opens with John Cena, who comes out to a huge pop in front of the Corpus Christi crowd. He makes a Hulk Hogan reference in his promo and talks about the latest edition of Monday Night Raw (which is actually the Dec. 23 edition due to the weird schedule). He asks for a title rematch with Randy Orton tonight, but all he gets is a visit from The Shield.

Mark Henry comes out to make the save but gets beaten down for his trouble. Big E. Langston then runs out and the three babyfaces fight off The Shield. Kane comes out to make three separate matches for later in the night: Big E. Langston vs. Dean Ambrose, Mark Henry vs. Roman Reigns and John Cena vs. Seth Rollins.

Erick Rowan and Luke Harper (w/Bray Wyatt) defeat The Usos in a relatively quick match. Bray enters the ring after the match and hits Sister Abigail to end the segment.

Renee Young interviews Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler interrupts him. A match between the two is set up for later in the night.

Antonio Cesaro defeats Cody Rhodes in about a five-minute match.

The Prime Time Players defeat Curtis Axel and Ryback when Darren Young rolls up Ryback for the win.

Orton defeats Ziggler by planting him with the RKO after a great match. After the match, Orton hits Ziggler with another RKO, drags him outside the ring and beats him down a bit more with a hard throw to end the segment.

Daniel Bryan beats Damien Sandow with his running knee. Bray Wyatt comes out with The Wyatt Family after the match to cut a promo.

Next comes the three singles matches, and the other two Shield members stood at ringside while the third competed. The same is true for the faces. Big E. Langston defeats Dean Ambrose in the first match, but Roman Reigns picks up the win over Mark Henry in the second match. John Cena defeats Seth Rollins to end the show.

The dark match after the show pits John Cena against Randy Orton, and Cena wins by disqualification.
