'Booty Call' director and 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air' producer Jeffrey Pollack found dead at age 54

Jeffrey Ian Pollack has died at age 54. He was the director of Booty Call, Above the Rim, Lost and Found and one of the producers on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Pollack was found on the Greenbelt in Hermosa Beach, California by an unidentified woman on the morning of Dec. 23. When Pollack was found, he was apparently in jogging clothes and had his iPod still playing the Eagles. Because he had no identification on him, the first police reports were calling him an unidentified man.

Reported by Easy Reader News, the Hermosa Beach Police Department Captain Tommy Thompson said, "It's still unknown how he died, we're not sure if it was a heart attack. But there were no signs of foul play." 

Pollack was most famous for directing the 1997 movie Booty Call with Jamie Foxx and Vivica Fox. Before that he directed Above the Rim in 1994, which was a movie about a basketball star and his brothers, starting Duane Martin and Tupac Shakur. Then later he worked with David Spade in 1999 on Lost & Found.

It was with his business partner and friend Benny Medina that he produced The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The two created Medina/Pollack Entertainment in the early '90s (what later became Handpring Entertaiment) a management and production company that included clients like Mariah Carey, Tyra Banks and Jennifer Lopez. The company closed in 2008.

Pollack had worked with Jeff Beacher on his Beacher's Madhouse variety shows, which was being performed at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, and a new version is opening Dec. 27 with host Miley Cyrus at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
