MStars reported earlier today that the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, was the latest in a long line of actresses and others to speak up and defend the casting of Gal Gadot (The Fast and the Furious franchise) as Wonder Woman in the Man of Steel sequel known for now as Batman vs. Superman. But the one name missing from that list was Gadot herself, who had remained silent since her casting several weeks ago. Until now.

Gadot conducted an interview entirely in Hebrew on Good Evening with Gai Pines and broke her silence on the controversy, but Batman-News.com translated the pertinent portions of the interview for the English-speaking fans out there. Gadot said that she found out she had gotten the part when her agent called her after she landed at the airport in New York on her way to Los Angeles. She added that she had a bit of a humorous freak-out on the plane and then was in shock in her bed in her hotel room.

The interview then turned to the fans' negative response to her casting, and the actress took the high road:

"It's been said that you're too skinny for the part. Wonder Woman is large-breasted, is that going to change?

Hmm. I represent the Wonder Women of the new world. Breasts...anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is Amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I'd really go 'by the book'...it'd be problematic."

The discussion then became about her training for the film:

"So you're not going to gain a little weight and start eating carbs before filming begins?

It's the physical preparations that I'm starting now. A very serious training regime - Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian...1,001 things...I'll gain body mass."

Batman vs. Superman hits theaters on July 17, 2015.
