Supernatural Season 9 is still on its "Hellatus," but we've got plenty of spoilers to tide you over until the show returns from break on Tuesday, Jan. 14. For those of you who need a quick refresher, the midseason finale "Holy Terror" ended with the death of Kevin Tran (Osric Chau) and the angel Gadreel absconding with Sam's body.

The episode left fans with plenty of questions, but showrunner Jeremy Carver answered a few in an interview with EW.com. Firstly, he broke the sad news that Kevin is well and truly dead:

" I know it's going to hurt. And it's with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Kevin. With any luck, being Supernatural, there will be a way to perhaps see him sometime down the line, but it's with a very heavy heart that we see Kevin be murdered."

Carver also talked about the statuses of Sam/Gadreel/Samdreel (we'll work on a name) and Dean when the show comes back for the second half of Season 9:

"At the end of the episode, Gadreel takes off in Sam's body. So are we going to see Sam's body and Dean go their separate ways?

That's a little tricky in that we have people on different paths. We've got Sam who's being possessed and essentially taken over by Gadreel, an angel who's done this horrible thing. And we're going to reveal that Gadreel is more complex than we even may have presented him now....I think we're going to see Gadreel put through his pieces a bit more by Metatron in terms of going down a dark path.

I think Jared [Padalecki] has done a wonderful job playing the role and I think the real fun thing we find in episode nine that Jared hasn't just been playing two roles, he has, in essence, been playing three. So that's a lot of fun to see this other side come out as well. And Jensen [Ackles] has done a wonderful job playing against this. So that's really what driving the mythology of the boys when we come back."

In other news, Spoiler TV reports that some titles of upcoming episodes have change. Episode 9.13 is now called "The Purge" instead of "Let The Fat One In," Episode 9.14 is now called "Captives" instead of "Old Friends" and Episode 9.15 is now called "Blade Runners" instead of "Back in Black." Episode 9.16 is titled "Thinman."

Finally, Jared Padalecki and his wife Genevieve got an early Christmas present when they welcomed a new baby into the world! Padalecki tweeted the news on Dec. 23.
