It seemed like 2013 was a good year for Jay Z. His album release and various business ventures kept him in the headlines and he seemed to be doing alright for himself but a new report claims otherwise.
According to a report from Business Insider, Hov's recent business ventures, such as the Magna Carta... Holy Grail release with the Samsung Galaxy, are doing the exact opposite of what was expected. The report claims that Hov's new deals actually aren't helping his image.
The report says that his Samsung partnership was the second least popular celebrity marketing deal of this year among millennial consumers (ages 13-31). Justin Bieber had the least popular deal with his OPI partnership.
Celebrity branding expert Jeetendr Sehdev conducted a survey and found that Jigga may still be popular with multi-aged Americans in general, however when it comes to the persuasion aspect of his brand, he lacks authenticity.
Interesting find.
Sehdev had this to say as well:
"Millennials question the exact nature of Jay Z's role in the artistic process. Does he really write his own songs? Is he choosing the artists to collaborate with, or is he just the face of a money-making empire?"
With the New Year approaching, Jay Z may want to come up with a new marketing scheme for 2014. Working on brand authenticity may be his next project.

Do you think Jay Z is just in it for the money? Does he write his own music?
