Mstars usually comes across funny stories, but this one takes the icing on the cake!  ABC News reports that a Kentucky inmate recently escaped a minimum security facility in Lexington over the weekend only to turn himself in, and guess what his reasoning was, it was way too cold outside.

Authorities said the inmate walked into the Sunset Motel and Restaurant, where he asked the clerk to call the police, as the temperatures dropped to history breaking temperatures.

Sherelle Roberts, a Lexington police spokeswoman said, the 42-year-old inmates name is Robert Vick, of Hartford. He told the clerk working that he wanted to turn himself in to be relieved from the cold air.

After being examined by paramedics, Vick was hauled back to Blackburn Correctional Complex, Roberts stated.

"This was definitely of his own volition," Roberts said. "It's cold out there, too cold to run around. I can understand why the suspect would turn himself in."

According to Department of Corrections spokeswoman Lisa Lamb, Vicks attire would have included khaki pants, a shirt and a jacket when he had escaped.

The wind chills and temperatures reaching only 20 degrees, even getting sometimes below zero on Monday, led to Vick get hypothermia. The Lexington Fire Department treated the inmate.

Vick's escape will probably get him some extra time in prison; after all he is already serving a six year sentence for burglary and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Guess home really is where the heart is, a warm bed and food in jail.
