Mstars has learned that Hip hop artist Shyheim Franklin, known as the "Rugged Child" of the Wu-Tang Clan, was the driver of a car that killed a man headed to work in a New Year's Day hit-and-run incident.
According to MediaTakeOut, Franklin, 36 turned himself in to police on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The deceased victim was Felipe Avila, 29 of Staten Island.
According to police, Franklin was speeding through a stop light, which caused the crash. According to the Staten Island Advance, the rapper was driving a 2003 Volvo S80 that was a friends car, hit Avila's 1996 Toyota Celica and then hit a parked Dodge Ram before leaving the loaned car and fleeing the scene.
Franklin, who already has a long list of charges was out on a $10,000 bail, after he was previously arrested in April 2013 on gun and drug possession charges.
Franklin got his big break at the age of 15-years-old, releasing his first album. His criminal past includes serving 16 months of a two-year prison sentence for a 2002 second-degree attempted robbery conviction.
The Wu-Tang member can look forward to more charges, due to the fact he left the scene of a fatal accident, which is classified as a class D felony.
