After the season three premiere of BBC's hit modern-day detective take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle character, Sherlock fans were left a bit disappointed. This led to many rumors of this season becoming the final for the show. But a new interview with head writer and executive producer Steven Moffat disproves this rumor and confirms the fourth season!

"It has had a brilliant response. I read the press, it is not true," the executive producer said of his show being canceled after season three.

He added: "It is not a detective show. It is a show about a detective ... It is a show that celebrates a clever man. So we make the show look complex. He is completely human. He has emotions but he suppresses them to be a better detective. He believes emotion gets in the way of his brilliant brain."

We understand that Moffat is excited about his current season of Sherlock, but we're more interested in the future. What does he have to say about season four?

"We have got plans, they tend to be what exciting twists and turns we can have. Not blowing up the world" he said.

As fans of Sherlock and perhaps the other shows Moffat writes for, including Doctor Who, we are ready for cliffhangers, callbacks and heartbreaks. He is known for his special ability to make his fans hate him in a way that they always want more.

Good thing the news of Sherlock's fourth season being in the works is true! We have plenty more to look forward to now!
