Earlier this week, Outkast dropped some exciting news for the West Coast. The duo announced that they would be performing at Coachella. Some East Coast fans were kind of salty until Outkast made this announcement for New York City.
Outkast will be headlining at the annual Governors Ball! The festivities will be held on New York City's Randall's Island in June.
Last year, Governors Ball was headlined by Kanye West. Guns N' Roses, Kendrick Lamar, Kings of Leon, The Avett Brothers and The Lumineers also performed.
Outkast is the first act confirmed to be performing at this year's Governors Ball.
Prior to the Coachella announcement, it was uncertain whether Outkast would ever work together again. Here's what Andre 3000 told Rolling Stone late last year:
"Things are kind of up in the air with me, and some days, I feel like yeah, I'll do it. Some days, I feel like, I don't. I don't know the future of music right now. I have no idea what I do. I honestly don't."
We hear that the rest of the festival's lineup will be announced on the festival's various social media outlets over the next several days. The lineup consists of over 80 artists.
The festival's Twitter page has already sent out a couple tweets that have fans scratching their heads. The first was a picture of what looked like white noise on a television screen. The second was a picture of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. along with this message: "Just you wait."
We're not too sure what that means but it sounds like a show you don't want to miss.
What do you think of Outkast reuniting and performing together? Will you be attending Coachella or the Governors Ball?
