Nintendo has officially added another character to the ever-growing roster of Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros. 3DS. The newest addition is hardly a surprise, but it adds one more name to the list.
Nintendo posted on the official Super Smash Bros. site that King Dedede would be a playable character in both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game. The character only appeared in the most recent installment in the franchise, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but the inclusion of Kirby's enemy was likely in the new versions as Nintendo typically adds to, not takes away from, successive installments.
The list of characters confirmed for the two versions of the game so far includes:
- Mario
- Donkey Kong
- Link
- Samus
- Kirby
- Fox
- Pikachu
- Bowser
- Pit
- Villager
- Mega Man
- Wii Fit Trainer
- Olimar and Pikmin
- Luigi
- Peach
- Toon Link
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Marth
- Rosalina and Luma
- Princess Zelda
- King Dedede
Nintendo announced both Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros. 3DS at E3 2011. The company has yet to announce a release date, but both games are scheduled for release in 2014.
What do you think of the roster so far, fellow Super Smash Bros. fans? Are there any other characters you want to see? Are there any former characters (Roy, Dr. Mario, etc.) you would like to see brought back for Wii U and 3DS? Let us know in the comments below.
