2013 was good to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. So good that the duo has decided to take some time off and work on some new music.
Back in November, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' manager said the duo is ready to "disappear for a while." With the success of their second studio album The Heist, no wonder these guys are so anxious to get back in the studio.
Macklemore recently posted a photo of Ryan Lewis on his Instagram with the caption "Very happy to be back in the lab with this guy...."
The Heist is up for seven Grammys including Album of the Year and Best rap Album. The album has sold more than 1.1 million copies since its release last October.
The album featured the hit single "Thrift Shop," among others. "Thrift Shop" has sold over 6 million copies and stayed atop the Billboard singles charts for six nonconsecutive weeks.
It's become common for artists to release mixtapes between albums but according to their manager, that won't be the case for the duo.
Here's what he had to say:
"There's no Macklemore mixtape or attempt at kind of staying around. I think we're gonna disappear for a little while and try to make some good music and find an interesting way of putting it out. I think it'll be a quiet year."
We can't wait to hear what these guys come up with. We know it's gonna be great.
